OUR STORY
The Beyond Institute was formed in 2017. We are an invitation-only non-government think tank, comprising philosophers, engineers, scientists and various alternative multidisciplinary thinkers.

Our remit? To explore the realm which lies beyond the physical body--using technological means. The potential existence of consciousness beyond any kind of physiological "wetware" is our working hypothesis.
While we respect and honor traditional and spiritual methodologies for exploring consciousness beyond the biological form, we are convinced that the scientific application of modern technologies--ranging from transcranial magnetic stimulation and other electromagnetic methods, to polysomnographic manipulation--harbors enormous potential for unlocking the power of OBEs and related states.

What exactly is an OBE?

At the institute we have our own specific criteria and set of definitions, since there are probably different "types" of out-of-body experiences.
That said, the best way to begin looking into OBEs is to read reports of authentic experiences. One of the world's best libraries of OBE reports can be found here, in the digital library of the Out-of-Body Experience Foundation.
How can material science comprehend the metaphysical?

Science is a tremendous tool for helping us to understand the universe--however, our scientific knowledge is incomplete, and we have much to learn yet.
Many groups and organizations are beginning to use the power of science to explore inner states and experiences which were previously exclusively in the real of mysticism. The Institute of Noetic Sciences is a wonderful example.
THE FUTURE
Although our members carry centuries of collective experience in their respective fields, the Beyond Institute is a relatively young organization. Over the coming months, we will be looking to expand our reach, and publish more about our work on this website and elsewhere.

Before very long, we will be introducing you to our circle of members; we will be building a database of papers and articles by our members; and we will be publishing our Strategic Framework and Philosophical Code documents.
